VANCOUVER, BC

We woke up in Vancouver!  One look outside told us we weren’t in Alaska any more! It was a GORGEOUS morning!  Blue skies and sunshine—the PERFECT last day of vacay! We bid farewell to Schoey as she was flying out to visit a cousin in Seattle.  ðŸ˜¢ðŸ˜¢ The rest of us met, for the very last time, in the Aurora Theater to get organized and lined up for our very last tour! We took yet another tour bus—this time to Shannon Falls!  WOW!  What a sight! Then down the road to the gondola ride up the mountain! We had another suspension bridge to cross over!  This one had a LOT more movement than the one we walked across in Skagway!  ðŸ˜³ðŸ˜³ðŸ˜³ But we survived and the views were spectacular! It was soooo steep—Judy and I ALMOST took the deep plunge! Back on the bus our tour took us through the lovely downtown streets of Vancouver.  What a delightful city!  We need to come back and spend a little more time there! And just like that, our vacation was OVER. ...

OUR FINAL DAY AT SEA!

Image
At sea days are THE BEST!  So much to see and do aboard the ship!  We saw a Celebration of Flags, with flags from each country of origin of every employee onboard.  It was an amazing! Our Captain spoke!  (Hopefully SOMEONE was steering the ship!) And the employees joyfully celebrated their countries! There were fancy desserts displayed!  (How did we miss the consumption of said desserts?) The sun was shining bright on the pool deck!  It was still a bit chilly, but it was SUNNY!   Back in the Centrum an egg drop contest was held.  Contestants had all week to create a contraption that would safely land from the ninth floor with their egg in tact! It got warmer after lunch and we ended up on deck, soaking up the warm sunshine!  AHHH!  And we spotted whales off the side of the boat!  They were off in the distance, however, they were breaching!  Sadly, NO moose were spotted! When we got back to our rooms, a turkey was waiting! ...

KETCHIKAN, ALASKA, A HOVERCRAFT ECO-ADVENTURE & WILDLIFE QUEST AND RAINFOREST WILDLIFE SANCTUARY, EAGLES & TOTEMS TOURS!

Image
Our last port of the cruise was Ketchikan, Alaska!  Ketchikan is known for its’ rain, its’ non-stop rain!  We were REALLY lucky with overcast skies,  but no rain!  (Perhaps a sprinkle or two!) At first glimpse, Ketchikan was AWESOME! The Peeps divided as we had chosen two different tours! Judy, Mary and I (the smart ones) chose the Hovercraft tour!   We stopped at a black sand beach where our hovercraft did donuts in the sand before stopping!  It was AMAZING!  At the beach we were met by about a half dozen resident eagles!  Our tour guide threw fish into the air and the eagles swooped down to grab them! We took a small hike into the Tongess Rainforest and, again, we were AMAZED at GREEN everywhere!  We had to remind ourselves that we were in Alaska! The other half of the Peeps, Bev, Deb and Jan, took the Rainforest Wildlife Sanctuary Tour.  They loved it! YUCK!!!!  They got to hold a banana slug, saw eagles soar, and watched totem p...
